Rob Dressler was a right-handed pitcher from Portland, Oregon, who worked in the majors for the San Francisco Giants, St. Louis Cardinals and Seattle Mariners between 1975 and 1980. The Giants took him in the first round of the 1972 draft, 19th overall, after he earned all-state baseball honors at Madison High School. He tied for the Pacific Coast League lead with three shutouts in 1975, then came up in September and won a complete game over the San Diego Padres. He was traded to St. Louis on July 24, 1978 as the player to be named later in the deal that sent catcher John Tamargo to the Giants. Seattle bought his contract from the Cardinals on June 4, 1979, and in 1980 he threw a career-high 149 1/3 innings with a 3.98 ERA. That year he issued 1.99 walks per nine innings, 12th lowest in the majors. The Mariners released him on March 26, 1981. He finished 11-23 with a 4.17 ERA in 82 games. He studied accounting at Portland State in the offseasons and entered the Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Fame in 2004.
