1978 Topps #58 Bob Forsch

About Bob Forsch
On April 16, 1978, before 11,495 at Busch Memorial Stadium, Forsch no-hit the Phillies after official scorer Neal Russo ruled Garry Maddox's eighth-inning grounder an error on third baseman Ken Reitz. He stood 6-2 on May 11 but went 5-15 the rest of the way and ended at 11-17. His 1978 Topps card is #58, with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Bob Forsch was a right-handed starter who pitched 16 seasons, 1974 to 1989, for the St. Louis Cardinals and, at the end, the Houston Astros, finishing 168-136 with a 3.76 ERA. The Cardinals drafted him in 1968 as a third baseman, and he was converted to pitching in the minors in 1970. His 163 wins for St. Louis rank fourth in franchise history, and he is the only Cardinals pitcher with two no-hitters, the second in 1983. He won Silver Slugger awards as a pitcher in 1980 and 1987. He started for the 1982 World Series champions and pitched in the 1985 and 1987 World Series as well. He and his older brother Ken Forsch were the first brothers to each throw a major league no-hitter. St. Louis traded him to Houston in 1988. After retiring he coached in the Reds' farm system. He died on November 3, 2011, and was inducted into the Cardinals Hall of Fame in 2015.
