About Dave Rosello

Rosello spent 1978 with the Portland Beavers, Cleveland's Triple-A club, and returned to the majors with the Indians in 1979. That year he played mostly second base and hit .243 with three home runs and 14 RBI. His #423 card still lists the Cubs.

Dave Rosello was a Puerto Rican infielder who played nine major-league seasons between 1972 and 1981, six with the Chicago Cubs and three with the Cleveland Indians. He came from Mayaguez, where he played baseball, basketball and ran track at Eugenio Maria de Hostos School, and signed with the Cubs in 1968. At Double-A Wichita he excelled in the field and was named an All-Star in 1972, 1973 and 1975. When the Cubs traded Don Kessinger to St. Louis after 1975, Rosello opened 1976 as the starting shortstop and had his career-high 227 at-bats. He went back to a utility role in 1977, then was sent to Cleveland for two minor leaguers, and played off the bench for the Indians from 1979 to 1981. He hit .236 with 10 home runs and 76 RBI in 422 games and finished in Triple-A in 1982.
