1978 Topps #191 Rodney Scott

About Rodney Scott
Oakland used Scott at second base and shortstop in 1977, when he batted .261 and stole 33 bases in 133 games. His rookie card, 1978 Topps #191, retained the Athletics affiliation. On March 29, 1978, Oakland traded him to the Cubs for pitcher Pete Broberg.
Rodney Scott was a switch-hitting infielder who stole 205 bases over 8 major league seasons with the Royals, Expos, Athletics, Cubs and Yankees. Kansas City selected him in the 11th round of the 1972 draft. He stole 85 bases between Waterloo and San Jose in 1974 and learned to switch-hit at Denver in 1976. Royals teammate John Mayberry gave him the nickname "Cool Breeze" because Scott took setbacks calmly. With Montreal in 1980, he tied for the National League lead with 13 triples and stole 63 bases. His major league career ended with a .236 average and 504 hits.
