1986-87 Fleer #67 Jeff Malone
1986-87 Fleer #67 Jeff Malone
A minor star, but often the LOWEST PSA 10 population in the entire set - a condition rarity worth a small fortune in top grade.

About Jeff Malone
Jeffrey Nigel Malone, a 6'4" shooting guard out of Mississippi State, was drafted 10th overall by the Washington Bullets in 1983 and played 13 NBA seasons (1983-1996) for the Bullets, Utah Jazz, Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat. A pure jump-shooter, he earned NBA All-Rookie First Team honors in 1984 and made back-to-back All-Star teams in 1986 and 1987, both as a Bullet. He averaged 19.0 points per game for his career - peaking at 24.3 ppg in 1989-90 - and finished with 17,231 points, though he never earned an All-NBA nod or won a title. Early in his rookie year he hit the famous "Maryland Miracle," a buzzer-beater launched from behind the backboard to beat Detroit on January 3, 1984. This is his rookie card, and among collectors it is notorious as one of the toughest cards in the entire set to find in top grade - frequently carrying the lowest PSA 10 population of any card in the set, making a pristine copy far scarcer than his profile would suggest.

About this card
The 1986-87 Fleer Jeff Malone is card #67 in Fleer's landmark 'Premier' issue - the first nationally-distributed NBA set since 1981-82 Topps and, for many collectors, the start of the modern era of basketball cards. Because of the multi-year gap, it is the recognized Rookie Card for Jeff Malone. He is pictured with the Washington Bullets.

Frequently asked questions
What is the 1986-87 Fleer Jeff Malone card?
It is card #67 of 132 in the 1986-87 Fleer Basketball set - Fleer's 'Premier' issue and the first nationally-distributed NBA set since 1981-82 Topps. It pictures the Washington Bullets Jeff Malone, and is his recognized rookie card.
Is the 1986-87 Fleer Jeff Malone his rookie card?
Yes - the hobby treats 1986-87 Fleer as the Rookie Card for any player whose first nationally-distributed (pack-issued) card it is. Jeff Malone had no Topps card before the set, so this is his recognized RC. (Limited-distribution Star Company cards from 1983-86 are classed as Extended Rookie Cards.)
Why is the Jeff Malone hard to find in high grade?
It is one of the set's condition-sensitive cards. The flush red/white/blue borders chip to reveal the white core at the slightest touch, and centering is tough - so high grades are far scarcer than the player's profile suggests.
Is the 1986-87 Fleer Jeff Malone valuable?
Value depends heavily on grade and centering. Use the links above to check current T206 Cards inventory and live eBay listings.
