1986-87 Fleer #69 Moses Malone
1986-87 Fleer #69 Moses Malone

About Moses Malone
Moses Malone was one of the first players to jump straight from high school to the pros, selected by the ABA's Utah Stars in the 1974 draft. The 6'10" center spent two ABA seasons (Utah, Spirits of St. Louis) before a 19-year NBA career with the Rockets, 76ers, Bullets, Hawks, Bucks and Spurs, retiring after 21 pro seasons in 1995. He was a 13-time All-Star, eight-time All-NBA pick and three-time NBA MVP (1979, 1982, 1983), and led the league in rebounding six times. In 1983 he powered the Philadelphia 76ers to the title and won Finals MVP - famously predicting the playoffs would go "fo, fo, fo" (three straight sweeps). His relentless work on the glass earned the nickname "Chairman of the Boards"; he retired averaging 20.3 points and 12.3 rebounds and holds the NBA record for career offensive rebounds. This card catches him mid-career as an established superstar with the Washington Bullets. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2001, his first year of eligibility.

About this card

Moses Malone was already an established star by 1986; this is not his rookie card, but he is one of the names that make the set a who's-who of the era. He is pictured with the Washington Bullets.
