About Orlando Woolridge
A 6'9" small forward from Notre Dame, Orlando Woolridge was the sixth overall pick of the 1981 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, where he spent his first five seasons. He went on to play 13 NBA seasons through 1994, also suiting up for the New Jersey Nets, Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Milwaukee Bucks and Philadelphia 76ers, and later finished his career in Italy. Woolridge averaged 16.0 points per game for his career (13,623 total points), peaking in 1984-85 when he averaged 22.9 points a night and paired with rookie teammate Michael Jordan to form a high-scoring Bulls duo. One of the era's most gifted leapers, he was a fixture in the mid-1980s Slam Dunk Contests and a celebrated alley-oop finisher. This is his rookie-era Fleer card, issued in the same landmark set as Jordan's iconic rookie. A cousin of Hall of Famer Willis Reed, Woolridge died of heart disease in 2012 at age 52.
