About Sidney Green

A 6'9" forward-center out of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Sidney Green starred for the Runnin' Rebels from 1979-1983, finishing as the program's all-time leading rebounder, and was chosen fifth overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 1983 NBA Draft. Over a ten-year NBA career (1983-1993) he played for six franchises: the Bulls, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks, Orlando Magic, San Antonio Spurs, and Charlotte Hornets, averaging 7.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game as a rugged frontcourt role player. He never made an All-Star team and is not in the Hall of Fame, but his 1986-87 Fleer card captures him during his final Chicago season before the Bulls dealt him to Detroit. UNLV retired his jersey and inducted him into its Hall of Fame in 1994. After retiring he moved into college coaching (including Florida Atlantic) and later returned to the Bulls as a player-development and community-relations ambassador.
