About Randy Wittman

A steady 6'6" shooting guard, Randy Wittman starred at Indiana University under Bob Knight, helping the Hoosiers win the 1981 NCAA championship and earning consensus second-team All-America honors in 1983. Washington drafted him 22nd overall in the 1983 NBA Draft, but his rights were traded to Atlanta days later (in the deal for Tom McMillen), so he never suited up for the Bullets. Wittman spent nine NBA seasons (1983-1992) with the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings, and Indiana Pacers, sharing an Atlanta backcourt with Doc Rivers and Spud Webb and starting regularly from the mid-1980s. A reliable role player rather than a star, he averaged 7.4 points per game and was never an All-Star. This card is his official rookie card. After retiring he became a longtime NBA head coach, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Washington Wizards.
