About Cliff Robinson

First things first for set builders: this is Clifford Trent Robinson, the Oakland-born forward out of USC — not the Portland Cliff Robinson who debuted the following season. A two-time first-team All-Pac-10 selection, Robinson went 11th overall to the New Jersey Nets in the 1979 draft, spent two straight years as the NBA's youngest player, and dropped 45 on Detroit in March 1980 — the teenage scoring record until 2026. The smooth forward averaged 17.2 points and 8.3 rebounds over 11 seasons, peaking at 20.2 a game for Kansas City in 1981-82 and totaling 10,823 points with the Nets, Kings, Cavaliers, Bullets, 76ers, and Lakers. Philadelphia landed him with Jeff Ruland in the 1986 blockbuster that sent Moses Malone to Washington. Not a rookie card — Fleer caught him a decade in, and injury held him to 14 games in 1988-89, his last Sixers season before a brief 1992 Lakers cameo.
