1988-89 Fleer #109 Derrick McKey

About Derrick McKey
Derrick McKey's rookie card catches the Alabama forward right as he broke out: the year this card hit packs, he started all 82 games for Seattle and posted a career-best 15.9 points per game. The 1987 SEC Player of the Year left school after his junior season and went ninth overall to the SuperSonics in the 1987 draft — ahead of Reggie Miller, Horace Grant, and Reggie Lewis — then made the 1987-88 All-Rookie First Team. Six seasons in Seattle ended in November 1993, when he and Gerald Paddio were traded to Indiana for Detlef Schrempf. With the Pacers, the 6'10" McKey's calling card was defense — versatile enough to guard any position — earning All-Defensive Second Team honors in 1995 and 1996 and a trip to the 2000 NBA Finals before a 2001-02 farewell in Philadelphia. He retired with 10,266 points across 937 games and 15 seasons, plus a 1986 FIBA World Championship gold medal with Team USA.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-08-18. Half grades fold down for both graders (8.5→8); PSA qualified slabs (OC, ST, PD, MC and the like) are not counted. The graders do not break out the stickers, so sticker pages carry no table.
