About Addie Joss
Born 1880 in Woodland, WI (d. 1911), Addie Joss was a right-handed pitcher who debuted in 1902 and played 9 major-league seasons. He went 160-97 with a 1.89 ERA and 920 strikeouts across 286 appearances. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978. On October 2, 1908, he threw a perfect game against the Chicago White Sox, the fourth perfect game in major-league history, beating Ed Walsh 1-0 in the heat of a pennant race.
