About Tim Jordan
Timothy Joseph Jordan learned baseball on the Manhattan sandlots—alongside future Yankees owner Jacob Ruppert—and after semipro ball with the Senecas reached the majors with the Washington Senators in 1901, then the New York Highlanders in 1903. The left-handed first baseman found his stride after joining the Brooklyn Superbas in 1906, where he twice led the National League in home runs: 12 in 1906 (tied for the major-league lead, making him the first rookie to share the big-league home-run crown) and 12 again in 1908. He remains the only Brooklyn/Dodgers player to win two home-run titles. Nicknamed "Big City" for his New York roots (adopted in 1907), Jordan hit .259 with 32 homers and 232 RBIs over parts of five big-league seasons before a knee injury and a contract dispute with owner Charles Ebbets ended his run in Brooklyn. He starred on in the minors afterward, batting .330 with 20 home runs for Toronto in 1911. As a two-time deadball home-run king, he is a solid, collectible T206 subject.
