About Adam Comorosky
Adam Anthony Comorosky, born December 9, 1905, in Swoyersville, Pennsylvania, broke into the majors with the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 13, 1926, as a right-handed-hitting outfielder. Across his eight seasons in Pittsburgh (1926-1933), he shared an outfield with future Hall of Famers Paul and Lloyd Waner, and by the time of his 1933 Goudey card he was a proven regular, though a 1931 health setback had already begun to slow him. His finest year came in 1930, when he hit .313 (some sources list .315) with 187 hits, 47 doubles, 12 home runs, 112 runs, and 119 RBI, and led the National League with 23 triples - a Pirates single-season record that has never been surpassed. After the 1933 season, Pittsburgh dealt him with infielder Tony Piet to the Cincinnati Reds for pitcher Red Lucas and outfielder Wally Roettger, and he closed his big-league career there in 1934-1935. Over ten major-league seasons and 813 games, Comorosky batted .285 with 795 hits, 28 home runs, 417 RBI, and 57 stolen bases. He later played in the minors before his death in his hometown of Swoyersville on March 2, 1951, at age 45.
