1933 Goudey #201 Ernie Orsatti
No team banner: this card comes from Goudey's late-1933 press sheets 8-10, which dropped the team-name banner from the front design.

About Ernie Orsatti
Ernest Ralph Orsatti (b. September 8, 1902, Los Angeles) came to baseball by way of Hollywood: as a young stuntman he worked in Buster Keaton's studio, even doubling for Keaton in the 1924 film "Sherlock, Jr." Keaton, who part-owned the Pacific Coast League's Vernon Tigers, staked Orsatti to a pro contract in 1925. After hitting well at Cedar Rapids, Omaha, and Houston, Orsatti debuted with the St. Louis Cardinals on September 4, 1927, and played nine big-league seasons as an outfielder, batting .306 lifetime and topping .300 in six of them. His best year came in 1932, when he hit .336 (sixth in the National League) with 44 RBI. A speedy, head-first-sliding member of the rough-and-tumble "Gas House Gang" alongside Pepper Martin and Frankie Frisch, Orsatti stood out for his sharp, "Hollywood" wardrobe. He appeared in four World Series (1928, 1930, 1931, 1934), playing all seven games of the 1934 win over Detroit and batting .318. After baseball he returned to Hollywood, co-founding the Orsatti Talent Agency with his brothers. He died September 4, 1968.

Frequently asked questions
What is the 1933 Goudey Ernie Orsatti card?
It is card #201 of the 1933 Goudey (R319) Baseball set - the 240-card, 2-3/8 by 2-7/8 inch color-art set issued in 1933 with Big League Chewing Gum. It pictures Ernie Orsatti with the St. Louis Cardinals.
Why does this card have no team banner?
It comes from Goudey's late-1933 press sheets 8-10, which dropped the team-name banner from the front design - 72 cards in the set share the bannerless look.
Is the 1933 Goudey Ernie Orsatti #201 a rookie card?
By modern catalog convention, yes. 1933 Goudey is treated as the hobby's first major nationally distributed gum set, so nearly every card in it carries the rookie-card (RC) designation - a modern label applied retroactively, since many of these players had earlier tobacco, caramel, or strip cards.
How many cards are in the 1933 Goudey set?
240 numbered cards, though collectors usually count 241 collectible cards because #6 Jimmy Dykes exists in an error and a corrected version. Only 239 numbers were in 1933 packs - #106 (Nap Lajoie) was printed in 1934 and issued by mail.
