1955 Topps All-American #68 Four Horsemen
Multi-person card: Jim Crowley, Elmer Layden, Harry Stuhldreher and Don Miller.

About Four Horsemen
No backfield in college football history is more celebrated than Notre Dame's Four Horsemen: quarterback Harry Stuhldreher, halfbacks Jim Crowley and Don Miller, and fullback Elmer Layden. After the Irish upset Army 13-7 in October 1924, Grantland Rice opened his New York Herald Tribune account with the most famous lead in sportswriting, "Outlined against a blue-gray October sky the Four Horsemen rode again," and a student publicist's photograph of the four on horseback made the name immortal. Knute Rockne's quartet played three seasons together from 1922 through 1924, losing only twice, both times to Nebraska, and capped a perfect 1924 campaign with a 27-10 Rose Bowl victory over Stanford that sealed the national championship. All four went into coaching: Layden at Notre Dame before serving as NFL commissioner, Crowley at Michigan State and Fordham, Stuhldreher at Villanova and Wisconsin, and Miller at Georgia Tech and Ohio State before turning to law. All four were inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
