About this card

This combination card groups Cincinnati manager Birdie Tebbetts with two of his young sluggers, catcher Ed Bailey and outfielder Frank Robinson. Robinson was the prize: the 1956 National League Rookie of the Year, he tied a major-league record with 38 home runs as a rookie and was blossoming into a superstar for the club then known as the Redlegs. Bailey was a power-hitting, multiple-time All-Star catcher, and Tebbetts managed Cincinnati during the mid-1950s. The card reflects the Redlegs' identity as a hard-hitting team of that decade. Frank Robinson went on to a Hall of Fame career and remains the only player voted MVP in both leagues.
