1958 Topps #418 World Series Batting Foes - Mickey Mantle / Hank Aaron
'World Series Batting Foes' - Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron together, marking the 1957 World Series (won by Aaron's Braves over Mantle's Yankees). One of the set's marquee combination cards.
One of the nine multi-player combination cards in the 1958 set — the format Topps had introduced a year earlier with the 1957 Dodgers' Sluggers and Yankees' Power Hitters.

About this card
This combination card commemorates the 1957 World Series by pairing its two biggest stars: the Yankees' Mickey Mantle and the Braves' Hank Aaron. That October, Aaron's Milwaukee Braves upset Mantle's New York Yankees four games to three for the franchise's first title in Milwaukee. Both were reigning league MVPs - Aaron won the 1957 National League award (44 homers, 132 RBI), while Mantle had claimed back-to-back American League MVPs in 1956 and 1957. As 'World Series Batting Foes,' the card frames two of the game's premier sluggers as head-to-head adversaries. Both are Hall of Famers, and they would meet again in the 1958 World Series, won by the Yankees.
