The story on this card
Game 3 of the 1961 World Series, October 7 at Crosley Field, Series tied 1-1. Bob Purkey held the Yankees to one hit through six while Frank Robinson's third-inning double put Cincinnati ahead. New York tied it in the seventh, the Reds answered on Eddie Kasko's single, then Johnny Blanchard's pinch-hit homer in the eighth made it 2-2. Leading off the ninth, Roger Maris, hitless in his first ten Series at-bats, drove a Purkey pitch into the right-field bleachers for a 3-2 win, with Luis Arroyo working the last two innings to finish it. New York took a 2-1 Series lead and won in five. Card #234 is a 1962 Topps World Series subset entry from the third series, listed with the Yankees, Maris on the front.

Graded population — a scarcity guide, not a price. Snapshot 2026-09-24. Half-grades fold down (8.5→8), and PSA's qualified grades are counted separately from the straight-grade rows shown here. Slabs of the three cards printed #139 are joined by description, never by number alone. PSA registers the green tints as a separate set; a tint's population is listed under that state of the card it belongs to.
