1965 Topps #39 Gerry Arrigo

About Gerry Arrigo
Arrigo moved to the Cincinnati Reds for the 1965 season, appearing in 27 games with five starts and posting a 2-4 record with a 6.17 ERA over 54 innings. His 1965 Topps card, #39, is a plain series-one number; it still pictures him with the Twins, his team from the previous season.
Gerald William Arrigo, a left-hander out of Harrison Technical High School in Chicago, pitched in the majors from 1961 to 1970 for the Minnesota Twins, Cincinnati Reds, New York Mets and Chicago White Sox. Signed originally by the White Sox organization, he spent one season in Class D ball before the Twins took him in the first-year player draft. His debut came on June 12, 1961, a start against the Red Sox at Fenway Park that ended in a loss. Arrigo threw two career one-hitters, the first broken up in the ninth inning by Mike Hershberger in 1964 and the second lost to Jerry Grote in the first inning in 1967. His best season came in 1968 with the Reds, when he went 12-10 with a 3.33 ERA across 31 starts. He finished his career with a 35-40 record over 194 games and retired from pro baseball in 1971.
