1965 Topps #333 Tommie Reynolds

About Tommie Reynolds
1965 Topps #333 is a solo card issued in series 4, showing Reynolds with the Kansas City Athletics. In 1965 Reynolds became a regular for the Athletics, playing 90 games mostly in the outfield and hitting .237 with 34 runs scored, including a 4-hit game against the Cleveland Indians that September.
Tommie D. Reynolds was an Arizona-born outfielder who signed with the Kansas City Athletics as an amateur free agent in 1963 after leading the Midwest League in batting average with the Burlington Bees. He broke into the majors that September and stayed with the Athletics through 1965, later playing for the New York Mets, the relocated Oakland Athletics, the California Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers before his career ended in 1972. An average defensive outfielder who spent most of his time in left field, Reynolds was also used often as a pinch hitter. His best season came in 1969 with Oakland, when he played 107 games and batted .257 with 51 runs scored. Over 513 career games he hit .226 with 12 home runs, 87 RBI and 141 runs scored. After retiring he coached for the Oakland Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a cousin of former outfielder Floyd Robinson.
