About Frank Kreutzer

Kreutzer pitched for the Washington Senators again in 1966, though in a much smaller role than the year before. He made just nine appearances, six of them starts, working 31 1/3 innings and striking out 24 batters while going 0-5 with a 6.03 ERA as his only decisions that season went against him. His 1966 Topps card, #211 from the set's third print series, again pictures him with Washington.

Franklin James Kreutzer was a left-handed pitcher from Buffalo, New York, who attended Villanova University before beginning his professional career in 1961 in the Boston Red Sox organization. That November he was picked by the Chicago White Sox in the first-year player draft. He debuted in the majors on September 20, 1962, throwing a scoreless inning and a third of relief against Boston at Comiskey Park. After parts of three seasons with the White Sox, he went to the Washington Senators as the player to be named later completing the July 1964 trade that sent Bill Skowron to Chicago for Joe Cunningham. His only full major-league season came in 1965, capped by a three-hit, ten-strikeout shutout of the Detroit Tigers on July 2 in which he also hit a two-run home run. Over parts of six seasons split between the two clubs, Kreutzer appeared in 78 games, made 32 starts, and finished with an 8-18 record, a 4.40 ERA, two complete games and one save.

Where SGC registers no separate row for a variation state, its slabs of that card are listed under the base state.
