1969 Topps #347 Randy Hundley

About Randy Hundley
Hundley made his only All-Star team in 1969, batting .255 with 18 home runs as the Cubs held first place for much of the season before a late collapse. His 1969 Topps card, number 347, is part of the fourth print series and reflects his role as the club's everyday catcher during that pennant race.
Randy Hundley caught for the Chicago Cubs, San Francisco Giants, Minnesota Twins, and San Diego Padres across fourteen big-league seasons from 1964 to 1977. Signed by the Giants out of Virginia, he was traded to Chicago before the 1966 season and quickly became the Cubs' everyday catcher, setting durability records behind the plate while introducing a one-handed catching style that later catchers adopted. He won a Gold Glove in 1967 and earned an All-Star selection in 1969, the year Chicago held first place for months before fading late. Knee injuries in the early 1970s slowed him, and he finished his playing career with brief stops in Minnesota and San Diego before closing it out back with the Cubs. He later managed in the minor leagues and founded baseball fantasy camps for adult fans.
