1969 Topps #467 Tom Reynolds

About Tom Reynolds
1969 Topps #467, a series 5 card, pictures Reynolds with the Oakland Athletics, the franchise's new home after its move from Kansas City. The 1969 season was the best of his career: he played 107 games, mostly in left field, and set personal highs with a .257 average, 51 runs scored, a 4-hit game against Detroit, and a pinch-hit homer off All-Star Luis Tiant.
Tommie D. Reynolds was an Arizona-born outfielder who signed with the Kansas City Athletics as an amateur free agent in 1963 after leading the Midwest League in batting average with the Burlington Bees. He broke into the majors that September and stayed with the Athletics through 1965, later playing for the New York Mets, the relocated Oakland Athletics, the California Angels and the Milwaukee Brewers before his career ended in 1972. An average defensive outfielder who spent most of his time in left field, Reynolds was also used often as a pinch hitter. His best season came in 1969 with Oakland, when he played 107 games and batted .257 with 51 runs scored. Over 513 career games he hit .226 with 12 home runs, 87 RBI and 141 runs scored. After retiring he coached for the Oakland Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a cousin of former outfielder Floyd Robinson.
