1971 Topps #81 Felix Millan

About Felix Millan
Millan struck out only 22 times in 577 at-bats in 1971, which made him the National League's toughest batter to strike out for the first time. He hit .289 with 167 hits and 8 triples. He turned a career-high 120 double plays at second base and played in his second All-Star Game. His first-series #81 pictures him with the Braves.
Felix Millan was a Puerto Rican second baseman who spent 12 major league seasons with the Atlanta Braves and New York Mets, from his 1966 debut through 1977. A slap hitter who choked up far on the bat, he built a reputation as one of the toughest men in the league to strike out. He made three All-Star teams and won two Gold Gloves at second base, and he helped both the Braves and the Mets reach the postseason, including the Mets' 1973 National League pennant and World Series run. The nickname the Cat evolved from Kitten, which he earned for his all-around skills. He finished his career with 1,617 hits and a .279 batting average before playing three more seasons in Japan.
