Gil Garrido, born in Panama City, Panama, was a shortstop who spent parts of six big league seasons with the San Francisco Giants and Atlanta Braves between 1964 and 1972. Listed at 5 feet 9 inches and 150 pounds, he batted and threw right-handed and was the son of Negro league player Gil Garrido Sr. After debuting with San Francisco in 1964, he moved into the Atlanta Braves organization and returned to the majors with Atlanta in 1968, covering short, second and third over his remaining seasons. His best year came in 1970, when he set career highs in games, batting average, hits, runs and RBI while playing mostly shortstop and second base for the Braves. Garrido reached the postseason with Atlanta in the 1969 NLCS, going 2-for-10 as the Braves fell to the Mets in three games. Over his career he hit .237 with one home run and 51 RBI in 334 games.
