The story on this card
Game 4 of the 1971 World Series, on October 13 at Three Rivers Stadium, was the first World Series game played at night. Baltimore opened with three singles off Luke Walker, scored on a passed ball, and led 3-0 on sacrifice flies by Brooks Robinson and Boog Powell. Bruce Kison relieved, got the final out of the inning and shut Baltimore out for six more innings on one hit, hitting three batters, a World Series record. Willie Stargell and Al Oliver hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the first, and Oliver tied it at 3-3 with a single in the third. In the seventh, pinch-hitter Milt May singled home Bob Robertson for a 4-3 lead, and Dave Giusti saved it. Pittsburgh evened the Series at two games each. Topps 1972 #226 is Game 4 in the World Series subset, #223-230, and shows the Pirates.
