The story on this card

Game 5 of the 1971 World Series, played October 14 at Three Rivers Stadium before 51,377, went to Pittsburgh 4-0 and gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead in games. Manager Danny Murtaugh started Nelson Briles instead of Steve Blass or Dock Ellis, saving his two top starters for potential Games 6 and 7, and Briles answered with a two-hit shutout. Bob Robertson opened the scoring with a leadoff home run off Dave McNally in the second inning. Manny Sanguillen singled, stole second and scored on Briles's own two-out single, and a wild pitch made it 3-0 after three innings. Gene Clines tripled in the fifth and scored on Roberto Clemente's single for the last run. This is 1972 Topps #227, a World Series subset card that carries the Pirates and was printed in the second series.
