The story on this card
Fenwick spent the whole of 1972 on Houston's roster. A March scouting note had called him a dandy glove man anywhere in the infield and almost sure to stick as utility man. He debuted April 26 and hit .180 in 36 games, starting 10, with Tommy Helms at second base and Roger Metzger at shortstop ahead of him. His rookie card, #679, is the Astros Rookie Stars card from the sixth series, shared with Bob Stinson, who is also printed with Houston. Utility infielder who played 41 games for the 1972 Houston Astros and 1973 St. Louis Cardinals. Born in Naha, Okinawa, he was the first major-league position player born in Japan, and he later served as a Minnesota county commissioner.
Houston lists Stinson on the sixth-series Rookie Stars card #679 with Bob Fenwick, even though he had finished 1971 in St. Louis. In 1972 he was in the Astros organization and played 27 games, hitting .171 with 2 RBI. Houston sold his contract to Montreal on March 28, 1973. Switch-hitting catcher, 1969 to 1980, who played for the Dodgers, Cardinals, Astros, Expos and Royals before becoming the primary catcher of the expansion Seattle Mariners in 1977 and 1978.
