1974 Topps #479 A's Celebrate - Win 2nd Consecutive Championship!

About this card
Cards #472-478 cover the 1973 World Series between the Oakland Athletics and the New York Mets one game per card, Games 1 through 7, and #479 "A's Celebrate" closes the run.
The story on this card
Oakland closed the 1973 World Series on October 21 with a 5-2 win over the New York Mets in Game 7, a seven-game victory that made the Athletics repeat champions, the first since the 1961-62 Yankees. The title was the second of three straight for Oakland. Topps put the celebration on 1974 Topps #479, the closing card of the World Series subset (#472-479), and paired two Athletics on it, catcher Ray Fosse and reliever Darold Knowles. Knowles had pitched in every game of the Series, the first pitcher to do so in a seven-game World Series, and he earned the save in Game 7. Fosse was the catcher on the Game 2 play in which Mets shortstop Bud Harrelson was called out at the plate in the 10th inning.
