The story on this card
Hank Aaron finished the 1973 season with 713 home runs, one short of Babe Ruth's record, and Topps opened its 1974 set with six cards built around the chase. #3 is part of the Hank Aaron Special run (#2-#6), titled 1958-61 and showing him with the Milwaukee Braves. The span it covers includes his 1959 batting title at .355 and Gold Gloves in 1958, 1959 and 1960. The Braves lost the 1958 World Series to the Yankees in seven games. Like the other cards in the subset, the front shows his earlier Topps cards.
Hank Aaron spent 23 major-league seasons with the Braves and Brewers. The right fielder passed Babe Ruth's career home run record in 1974 and finished with 755 home runs and 3,771 hits.
