The story on this card
Topps closed its six-card Hank Aaron Special at #6, which covers 1970-1973 with Aaron in an Atlanta Braves uniform. He hit 38 home runs in 1970 and 47 in 1971, the highest total of his career. He followed with 34 in 1972 and 40 in 1973. He collected his 3,000th hit on May 17, 1970, against the Cincinnati Reds, the club he had faced in his first major league game. He ended 1973 with 713 career home runs and hit his 715th off Al Downing on April 8, 1974. Like the other cards in the Aaron Special, #6 shows his earlier Topps cards on the front and summarizes his career highlights.
Hank Aaron spent 23 major-league seasons with the Braves and Brewers. The right fielder passed Babe Ruth's career home run record in 1974 and finished with 755 home runs and 3,771 hits.
