1976 Topps #275 Rick Manning

About Rick Manning
Manning arrived in Cleveland on May 23, 1975, at age 20, and played 120 games that season, batting .285 with 19 stolen bases. Topps gave him a rookie card, #275, as an Indian. In 1976 the club moved George Hendrick to left field and made Manning its center fielder and leadoff man. He hit .292 with 6 home runs and 16 steals.
Rick Manning was a left-handed-hitting center fielder, the second overall pick in the 1972 draft, who played 13 big-league seasons for the Cleveland Indians (1975-1983) and Milwaukee Brewers (1983-1987). He hit .257 with 56 home runs and 458 RBI. He stole 168 bases and won the 1976 American League Gold Glove. On May 15, 1981, he caught Ernie Whitt's fly ball for the final out of Len Barker's perfect game. The Indians traded him with Rick Waits to Milwaukee on June 6, 1983, for Gorman Thomas, Jamie Easterly and Ernie Camacho. On August 26, 1987, his 10th-inning pinch single beat Cleveland 1-0 and ended Paul Molitor's 39-game hitting streak. Since 1990 he has been Cleveland's television color commentator, the longest tenure of any TV announcer in team history. He is in the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame (1999) and the Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame (2017).
