The story on this card

Card #8 closes the eight-card League Leaders subset that opens the 1977 Topps set, and it covers the relief category for 1976. Bill Campbell is printed with the Minnesota Twins and Rawly Eastwick with the Cincinnati Reds. Campbell went 17-5 with a 3.01 ERA and 20 saves. His 78 appearances led the American League. Eastwick went 11-5 with a 2.09 ERA and 26 saves for a Reds club that swept Philadelphia in the NLCS. Each won the first Rolaids Relief Man award in his league that year, and The Sporting News named both its Fireman of the Year.

Bill Campbell - right-handed closer for the Twins and Red Sox who won the Rolaids Relief Man Award and Fireman of the Year in 1976 and 1977, and after 1976 signed one of the first big free-agent contracts. He finished with 126 saves in 700 games. Rawly Eastwick was a right-handed reliever for the Big Red Machine Reds, saving 22 games in 1975 and leading the National League with 26 in 1976 before stops with the Cardinals, Yankees, Phillies, Royals and Cubs.
