About this card

The set's three Postseason cards are #411-413: #411 covers the 1977 American League playoffs (Yankees and Royals), #412 the National League playoffs (Dodgers and Phillies) and #413 the 1977 World Series (Yankees).

The story on this card

Game 6 of the 1977 World Series, played October 18 at Yankee Stadium, is the moment behind #413. It is the World Series card in the Postseason Highlights run of #411-413 in the 1978 Topps set, listed under Reggie Jackson and the New York Yankees. Jackson homered on the first pitch he saw from Elias Sosa in the fifth, after connecting off Burt Hooton in the fourth, then drove a Charlie Hough knuckleball 475 feet into center field in the eighth. Three home runs in one Series game had not been done since Babe Ruth in 1926 and 1928. The Yankees won 8-4, took the Series four games to two over the Los Angeles Dodgers, and gave the franchise its 21st title and its first since 1962. Jackson won the Series MVP award and earned the nickname Mr. October.
