Bo McLaughlin was a 6-foot-5 right-handed reliever from Oakland, California, who pitched in the majors from 1976 to 1982 for the Houston Astros, Atlanta Braves and Oakland Athletics. He debuted with Houston on July 20, 1976, and in his first season made 17 appearances, 11 of them starts. He went 4-5 with a 2.85 ERA and two shutouts. By 1977 he had moved to the bullpen. He split 1979 between Houston and Atlanta, then returned in 1981 with Oakland. On May 26, 1981, Harold Baines hit a sinker on a line into his face, breaking his left cheekbone and his eye socket in five places. Two surgeries were needed to repair the damage, and he came back for a few games that September before pitching through 1982 with the A's. He finished 10-20 with a 4.49 ERA and nine saves. He later worked in real estate and coached in the Cubs and Orioles systems before joining the Rockies. He also used the alias Grim Bimbledon.
