About Oscar Zamora

Zamora's last major league game came on July 21, 1978. In 10 relief appearances for Houston that season he worked 15 innings and carried a 7.20 ERA, without a decision. Topps issued him as #91 in the 1978 set, under the Houston Astros.

Oscar Zamora was a right-handed reliever from Camaguey, Cuba, who pitched for the Chicago Cubs from 1974 to 1976 and for the Houston Astros in 1978. He reached the majors on June 18, 1974, and made 56 appearances that first season, going 3-9 with a 3.12 ERA. In 158 major league games he went 13-14 with a 4.53 ERA.

In 1979 Zamora pitched for the Miami Amigos of the Inter-American League while owning a shoe factory in Miami. The business limited his travel to weekend road games. He still won eight games, tied for second on Davey Johnson's club.
