About Adrian Devine

On December 8, 1977, Devine went back to Atlanta in the first four-team trade in major league history, which moved eleven players. He was the winning pitcher in Bobby Cox's first win as Braves manager, on April 10, 1978, against the Padres. He went 5-4 with a 5.92 ERA in 31 games. His 1978 Topps card, #92, lists him with the Texas Rangers.

Adrian Devine was a right-handed reliever from Galveston, Texas, who pitched for the Atlanta Braves and Texas Rangers across 1973 and 1975 to 1980. The Braves drafted him in the second round in 1970. An arm injury cost him most of 1974, and doctors advised him to retire and go back to school; he chose surgery instead and worked his way back through Triple-A Richmond, where he went 10-6 with a 2.98 ERA in 1975. He finished his major league career 26-22 with a 4.21 ERA and 31 saves in 217 games, 12 of them starts. His last game came on July 3, 1980, and he pitched briefly for Wichita the next year before the Rangers released him. Devine died on June 27, 2020, at 68, after repeated bouts with cancer.
