About Mickey Stanley

Stanley played 34 games in the outfield and 12 at first base for Detroit in 1978. In 2007, he recalled Lance Parrish greeting him as 'Mr. Stanley' and saying he had been in eighth grade during the 1968 World Series. His 1979 Tigers card was #692.

Mickey Stanley played all fifteen of his major league seasons with Detroit, appearing in 1,516 games and winning four Gold Gloves. The Tigers signed him out of Ottawa Hills High School in Grand Rapids in 1960. In the minors he shared the Duluth outfield with Jim Northrup and Willie Horton, who later became his Detroit teammates. Stanley finished with 1,243 hits, 117 home runs and a .248 average. After leaving the Tigers, he played professional softball for the Detroit Caesars and Detroit Auto Kings. He later worked as a builder and real estate developer in Michigan and entered the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame in 1994.
