About Tim Corcoran

Corcoran played 18 games for the 1979 Tigers, in the outfield and at first base, and had five hits in 22 at-bats. He also spent time in the minors with Evansville, where he hit .338 with 50 RBIs in 87 games. Topps #272 lists him with Detroit.

Tim Corcoran was a left-handed-hitting first baseman and outfielder who played nine big-league seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Minnesota Twins, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. Undrafted, he signed with Detroit as a free agent in June 1974, hit .346 at Evansville early in 1977 and was promoted in May, debuting on May 18. The Tigers sent him to Minnesota in September 1981 in a deal that brought Ron Jackson to Detroit, and the Twins released him the following March. He signed with the Phillies, spent 1982 and most of 1983 in their farm system, and helped Portland win the 1983 Pacific Coast League championship with a .311 average and 93 RBIs. In 1984 he hit .341 with a .440 on-base percentage in 102 games for Philadelphia. The Phillies released him in December 1985; he recalled, "It was a heck of a Christmas present." He signed with the Mets in 1986, played six games, and finished with 509 games, a .270 average and 12 home runs. The Angels hired him as a scout in 2000.
