About Clark Kellogg

A 6'7" power forward from Ohio State, where he was an All-Big Ten performer, Clark Kellogg was the eighth overall pick of the 1982 NBA Draft, taken by the Indiana Pacers. This 1986-87 Fleer card is a Kellogg rookie card, and it captures a player whose talent outran his health. He exploded as a rookie in 1982-83, averaging 20.1 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists to earn NBA All-Rookie First Team honors and finish runner-up for Rookie of the Year. Nicknamed "Special K" (a play on his initials, C.K.), he spent his entire five-season NBA career with the Pacers, posting 18.9 points per game across 260 games. Chronic knee problems limited him to three full seasons plus parts of two others and forced an early retirement. Kellogg went on to a long, acclaimed broadcasting career, joining ESPN in 1989 and later becoming CBS Sports' lead college basketball analyst for its NCAA Tournament coverage.
