About Patrick Ewing
A dominant 7-foot center out of Georgetown, Patrick Ewing led the Hoyas to three NCAA title games in four years and the 1984 national championship, where he was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. The New York Knicks took him with the first overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft, and he was named 1986 Rookie of the Year - the honor celebrated on this, his rookie card. Over a 17-season career (1985-2002), Ewing was an 11-time All-Star and a seven-time All-NBA selection (First Team in 1990), spending 15 seasons with the Knicks before brief stops in Seattle and Orlando. He retired with 24,815 points, 11,617 rebounds and 2,894 blocks, and remains the Knicks' all-time leading scorer. Nicknamed the "Hoya Destroya" for his intimidating defense at Georgetown, he twice led New York to the NBA Finals (1994, 1999), won Olympic gold in 1984 and 1992, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2008.
