About Louis Orr
A 6'8" forward out of Syracuse, Louis Orr (born Louis McLaughlin Orr, 1958-2022) was drafted 29th overall by the Indiana Pacers in the second round of the 1980 NBA Draft. He played eight NBA seasons -- two with the Pacers (1980-1982) and six with the New York Knicks (1982-1988) -- appearing in 569 games and averaging 9.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists as a rangy role player, with a career-best 12.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game for New York in 1984-85. At Syracuse he starred alongside Roosevelt Bouie in the celebrated "Louie and Bouie Show," a nickname born when the student paper The Daily Orange ran a caricature of the pair striding upcourt in tuxedos and top hats; the Orange retired his No. 55 in 2015. Never an All-Star, Orr was a valued complementary piece on a Knicks club that his card here anchors as one of the set's everyday veterans. He later became a college head coach at Siena, Seton Hall and Bowling Green.
