About Kenny Walker
Two-time SEC Player of the Year (1985 and 1986) and a consensus first-team All-American at Kentucky — where his 2,080 points still rank second in school history and his No. 34 hangs in Rupp Arena — Kenny Walker went to the Knicks fifth overall in the 1986 NBA Draft. The 6-8 forward averaged 10.4 points a game as a rookie and spent five seasons in New York through 1991, later adding two more with the Washington Bullets (1993-95) to finish with 3,128 NBA points and 1,793 rebounds. Fans in Lexington had dubbed him "Sky" Walker for his high-flying dunks, and he earned the name for good on February 11, 1989: three days after his father's death, he out-dunked Clyde Drexler to win the NBA Slam Dunk Contest — in the very season this Fleer #83 landed as his rookie card. Few rookie cards come with a dunk title attached to the same season.
