About Sidney Green

Brooklyn-bred out of Thomas Jefferson High, Sidney Green became a star for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, earning consensus second-team All-America honors and Big West Player of the Year in 1983 before the school retired his No. 21. The Chicago Bulls grabbed him fifth overall in the 1983 NBA Draft, and the rugged 6-9 power forward went on to a ten-year career (1983-93) with the Bulls, Pistons, Knicks, Magic, Spurs, and Hornets, finishing with 5,080 points and 4,128 rebounds. Fleer pictures him in his second Knicks season, 1988-89, when he suited up in all 82 games as the frontcourt reserve behind Patrick Ewing and Charles Oakley. Months after this card hit wax packs, Green made history as the No. 1 selection of the 1989 expansion draft — the first player ever chosen by the Orlando Magic. Six seasons into his career here, card #81 is not a rookie card. Bloodlines bonus: son Taurean Green won back-to-back NCAA titles at Florida in 2006 and 2007.
