About Mark Jackson
One of the marquee rookie cards in 1988-89 Fleer: card #82 catches Mark Jackson fresh off his 1987-88 NBA Rookie of the Year campaign. A Queens streetball product who starred at St. John's alongside Chris Mullin, Jackson slipped to the hometown Knicks at No. 18 in the 1987 draft, then averaged 13.6 points and 10.6 assists a night — the lowest pick to win the award since 1958. An All-Star in 1989, the pass-first point guard ran offenses for 17 seasons (1987-2004) with the Knicks, Clippers, Pacers, Nuggets, Raptors, Jazz, and Rockets, leading the league in assists in 1996-97 and steering Indiana to the 2000 Finals. He climbed to second on the all-time assist list (10,334), behind only John Stockton, and his signature back-them-down post game even forced an NBA rule change. "Action Jackson" — a nickname borrowed from the 1988 Carl Weathers film — later coached the Warriors and became a fixture on ESPN broadcasts.

Cards #120-131: Fleer's own twelve-card All-Star Team subset - its first - in a dedicated design, headlined by Michael Jordan #120.
