About Michael Adams

Every inch of 5'10", Michael Adams rode an unorthodox chest-launched push shot into an 11-year NBA career nobody projected when Sacramento used the 66th pick of the 1985 draft on the Boston College point guard. After just 18 games as a rookie he detoured through the CBA, winning 1986 Rookie of the Year there, then exploded in Denver's up-tempo attack from 1987 to 1991. This is his rookie card, and it catches him mid-heater: Adams buried a three-pointer in a then-record 79 consecutive games from January 1988 to January 1989 — a streak that stood until Stephen Curry — while averaging 18.5 points for the 1988-89 Nuggets. His 1990-91 season (26.5 points and 10.5 assists per game, plus a 54-point night with nine threes) remains one of the era's wildest, and he was a 1992 All-Star after returning to Washington. Adams retired in 1996 with 9,621 points and 4,209 assists.
