About Bobby Wallace
Born 1873 in Pittsburgh, PA (d. 1960), Bobby Wallace was a right-handed shortstop who debuted in 1894 and played 25 major-league seasons. He batted .268 with 2,309 hits, 34 home runs, and 201 stolen bases in 2,383 games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1953. He is credited with revolutionizing shortstop play by developing the continuous throwing motion, fielding and releasing the ball in one fluid movement rather than stopping to set his feet.
