Born 1921 in Rybnik, Plzensky (d. 1998), Elmer Valo was a left-handed outfielder who debuted in 1940 and played 20 major-league seasons. He batted .282 with 1,420 hits, 58 home runs, 601 RBI, and 110 stolen bases over 1,806 games.
