Born 1913 in Demorest, GA (d. 1993), Johnny Mize was a left-handed first baseman who debuted in 1936 and played 15 major-league seasons. He batted .312 with 2,011 hits, 359 home runs, 1,337 RBI, and 28 stolen bases over 1,884 games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.
